Question No. 1

Our school’s principal and faculty often are challenged with ways to improve student attendance, academic performance, and discipline. What recommendations could you make to improve student attendance, achievement, behavior and morale at GCMS?


Question No. 2

Much of the middle school’s academic performance index rests with the annual CATS test scores. What ideas do you have to encourage students to score distinguished or proficient on the CATS test?
Question No. 3

If you could choose one type of student activity, event, or assembly to be held this year, what would it be? Discuss also its educational relevance to student achievement.

Question No. 4

Our administration encourages students to complete an annual evaluation of all faculty members at GCMS. What are your thoughts on that topic? Discuss some aspects of teacher performance that you would like to see be included on the evaluation, as well as what you would like to see administrators do with the information.

The topic of school lunches is currently a hot one among students. What realistic suggestions can you make to our cafeteria staff, Mr. Watson, the Graves County Board of Education, and the state General Assembly regarding school lunches and snack machines?

From time to time, it seems as if the entire student body is punished or withheld from enjoyable activities due to the negative behavior of a minority of students. What suggestions do you have to allow for more student assemblies and activities, while at the same time ensuring proper student behavior at such events?

Question No. 5

Attendance at student sporting events (basketball and football games) and cultural programs (strings orchestra, art program) is often sparse. What recommendations do you have to increase the number of students who attend such activities?

Our administration has suggested that students be allowed to complete an annual evaluation of all faculty members at GCMS. What are your thoughts on that topic? Discuss some aspects of teacher performance that you would like to see be included on the evaluation, as well as what you would like to see administrators do with the information.

Bullying is always a concern in public schools, and often a problem at the middle school level. What recommendations can you make to curtail that concern at GCMS?

GCMS offers several sports, clubs and special-interest activities for its students. What recommendations can you make regarding future additions to our extracurricular activities for students.

Are social classes (preps, gothics, jocks, cheerleaders, band, etc.) a problem at GCMS? Defend your position, including suggestions to alleviate possible tensions among students.
